Augmentation Mamoplasty

During the life of the woman, the breasts undergo certain modifications that alter its volume, shape, position and also its texture. The most critical periods for these changes are during pregnancy, postpartum and menopause.

The breasts have assignments aesthetic, sexual, psychological and parenting, so any change in its shape and size can cause severe psychological consequences. The desire to modify it generates a large number of consultations with plastic surgeons.

SURGICAL PROCEDURE
The types of implants are silicone implants or silicone prosthesis - mostly used in plastic surgery because it is inert to the body, and now filled with silicone gel high cohesiveness (does not allow migration of silicone, which happened formerly with Silicon more fluid).Saline implants expandable - filled with saline solution, leaving less natural look and extend preferably the lower pole of the breast.

Classification of implants (breast prosthesis) under the surface: Smooth - surface of the first implants (often occurred to capsular contracture). Rough - textured implants and implants coated polyurethane. Implants are the rough that have lower rates of capsular contracture.

Classification according to the form of implants: round - are the high profile (higher projection of the breast) and low profile. Anatomical - have a teardrop shape, giving more natural looking breasts.

Incisions: aerial - very frequent in Europe, holds an incision on the edge between the bottom of the areola and the skin, the nipple has to have a large diameter to use this method. Submammary - very common in Brazil, is the most commonly used by surgeons.

Through an incision of approximately 4 cm in the inframammary crease below the breast, insert the graft. Axillary - through incisions in the armpit, under the arm, it uses the video surgery. There may extend the scars and change in the position of the implants, causing asymmetry between the breasts. Umbilical - through umbilicus is little used today.

Places of implant placement: retroglandular - behind the mammary gland.Retromuscular - behind the pectoralis major, used when the patient has no fat and breast tissue to adequately cover the prosthesis.

Types of anesthesia that can be used for the placement of breast implants: local with sedation, and general.

POSTOPERATIVE
Complications that can occur after surgery: are rare but it is important to report them, infection, hematoma, capsular contracture, asymmetry, alteration in sensitivity of the breasts and changes in the scars.
