Patients who have sagging breasts (ptosis), flaccid, with excess skin and changes in their shape are candidates for this surgery. Some patients also feel pain in the spine and other design shoulders forward to hide the volume.
SURGICAL PROCEDURE The intervention is carried out with the options of local anesthesia with sedation, or general anesthesia. The incisions may be just around the areola, vertical (incision below the areola in the middle of the breast to the inframammary crease) in the shape of the letter "L" shaped and the letter "T" inverted. The choice depends on the experience and the technique used by the surgeon, the breast size and the degree of sagging skin.
POSTOPERATIVE Duration of results: variable depending on the gravity, change in weight, pregnancy and aging.
Complications rarely occur: infection, hematoma, asymmetry, loosening of some points (wound dehiscence), changes in the scar, the sensitivity and areola necrosis (rare, but they deserve to be mentioned).
RESULT Benefits: improves the shape of the breasts, breast weight reduction, reduction of skin laxity and some streaks that are located in the lower portion of the breast. There is also an improvement of posture and decrease the burden of weight in the thoracolumbar spine. There is also improved self-esteem and interpersonal relationships.
